Meet the Teams – Inspired Creations Contest part 3

It is time for another introduction.  Up this time is a proposal for a ceremony arch.  This entry was selected since it wasn’t the usual table setting but instead will inspire some ideas to dress up your own ceremony spot.  (Remember that earlier post on creating a focal point?)

This twosome is comprised of Kio Kreations & Hazleton Photography.  They have submitted a concept titled “A Whimsical Salvage Chic Ceremony” and I know everyone will be blown away when the see it come to life at the winter Indie Wed event.  Their entry included a bunch of sketches but I don’t want to give away too much.  Instead here are a few images they sent in as inspiration for their concept.

Meet the Teams – Inspired Creations Contest part 2

So yesterday we introduced you to our first selected team for the Indie Wed Inspired Creations Contest.

Today’s team is the duo of Grapevine Floral & John Dart Photography.  The concept of their proposal is for the ultimate vintage, cozy, winter wedding.  Think flannel shirts, vintage hankies, knitted mittens, candlelight, and snowflakes.  The inspiration board they sent over is just stunning and I can’t wait to see how they transform this into a live vignette.

Meet the Teams – Inspired Creations Contest part 1

During the last week, we (Ami from Elizabeth Anne Designs, Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion, & I, Kelly from Indie Wed) went through the batch of proposals we received for our first live Inspired Creations Contest to be held at the upcoming winter Indie Wed.  There were a ton of amazing entires but we had to narrow it down to a mere six.  We were inspired by all the creativity and decided to choose the most diverse group we could in terms of styles as well as ideas they were presenting.

I want to take some time over the next week or so to introduce you to the six teams with a very small teaser as to what they will be presenting live at Indie Wed.

First up is the team of:

Maypole Studios,
Love Lulu Mae,
Busy Beaver Buttons
3 Line 9 Productions.
Their concept was for a photo booth area for your wedding that combines the hypothetical couple’s love of vintage as well as music.  The photo booth will be interactive and involve a cool giveaway for guests.  Their inspiration?  Think, Boardwalk Empire!  How cool is that.  Here is a little inspiration board they sent along to give us a little idea.

Why we’re small

My partner and I met, fell in love, and decided to start a catering company. We started FIG Catering six and half years ago with the notion that we could provide high quality food and personal service for smaller events. FIG stands for “For Intimate Gatherings”– so even as we’ve grown throughout the years we’ve maintained our focus on intimate events, including weddings. We will only cater for up to 150 guests and focus on ONE wedding event a day. Sometimes we have to disappoint people who inquire about larger events, but we chose to be smaller for many important reasons (and have found more and more reasons as we’ve matured). Here are some of the most important:

Redfield Estate room

We focus on food and believe in preparing as much as we can on-site at each event. In order to provide the freshest food possible, limiting the number of guests is essential. It allows us to provide creative menus and restaurant quality preparations.

We wanted to move away from the cookie cutter solutions/menus that larger catering services provided. We do each and every menu/proposal from scratch and it is the most time consuming part of our jobs. Staying smaller allows us to focus on each and every client.

We didn’t start with a specific focus to be a “green” company, but our personal sense of responsibility towards the environment influenced our business practices and soon we realized that we could make a difference by offering clients organic and locally sourced seasonal food, reducing waste, and making smarter decisions (even little ones). Reducing and recycling are much easier on a smaller scale. Many venues we work at do not have recycling on-site, but we are able to take back recyclables to our kitchen. Waste is also easier to control on a smaller scale. Finally, working with smaller farmers/producers means that their production is often limited so not having HUGE needs works in our favor.

It allows us to stay sane. I don’t like the chaos of large events; I used to work in staffing and have worked at plenty of large scale fetes with 20+ staff, multiple kitchens, and miles of walking. I am much more comfortable with a small, dedicatedstaff and a guest list where I can personally interact with each and every guest.

Whatever size your wedding is, it is an important factor to think about as it will impact your venue choice, caterer, budget, and, most importantly, feel of the day.

A destination wedding?! Hmm, OK!

Hi! I’m Tasha Mueller founder of Sweet Escapes Destination Wedding Planning.  I’m dedicated to help couples out there tap into their personal style and make their wedding about them & the celebration of their love.  Sweet Escapes is all about making your day (or week!) personal, intimate & memorable.  Yes, we focus on flowers, food & table linens, but our overall focus is about the “feel.”  Have you ever walked into a room and felt the ‘energy’ of the place & people?  That’s our point, I want your guests to walk away from your wedding full of love, laughter, and memories.

Just imagine taking your favorite people to an amazing location, experiencing some of the sights and adventures together, then sharing in your most special of days.  All of your family & friends will leave as one big ‘family’, always having your wedding to thank for the new friendships made.  Everyone becomes Facebook friends, invites each other out for dinner, and if we do our part, will want a reunion each year in the amazing place you got married.

I’m not saying Destination Weddings are better than a traditional one day hurrah, but think about it… what are you and your fiancee really wanting from your wedding?  If its quality time with each of your favorite people, a relaxed environment in a beautiful location, and a wedding week full of laughter and fond memories, you can’t beat a Destination Wedding.  Only a Destination Wedding can provide a true union of two families and two people in love.

 Hugs,  Tasha

Holy Geronimo!

So I previously posted about creating a focal point in your ceremony or reception area.  I do think decor and setting a mood is important.  What could be more fun that these amazing balloons, yes balloons, by Jihan “Jihanimo” Zencirli and her company Geronimo!

Now I know these have been all over the web during the summer but I was getting all excited about them again and just wanted to share for those who may have not seen them before.  I think they are just stunning and so much fun.

Balloons at weddings aren’t a new idea for sure but can you imagine how much fun these would be at your reception?  You could have them scattered about the room or perhaps have one as the centerpiece at every table.  Can you imagine!?  Would you have balloons at your wedding?
