As with many of XO Pictures’ films, parts of this story have a really magical, almost surreal feel. I wanted to make the beginning of this one feel almost like a lucid dream. This was made possible by the emotion of the groom, and the wonderful speech delivered by the father of the bride.

Some of the feel of this piece was inspired by Preeya + Brian’s decision to have a portion of Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist” read during their ceremony. The line that stuck out to me most was, “When he looked into her dark eyes, and saw that her lips were poised between a laugh and silence…” This line helped me to understand the deep connection between the two.
