Artist Spotlight: Mineralogy

At Indie Wed, I am always excited to get in contact with people I’ve never met or businesses I’ve never heard of.  I think it is what keeps Indie Wed fresh and exciting.  Well today I got an email from a lovely gal Theresa, a Chicago based jeweler and I must say… I am totally obsessed with her company, Mineralogy!

These are some of the prettiest rings I have seen in a while and would make a perfect engagement ring for the most unique bride. The work feels very raw, like it was just plucked right from the quarry, with perfectly imperfect diamond alternatives incased in hammered metal.  Mineralogy makes rings, necklaces, earrings and even wall hangings, with subdued colors and just enough sparkle.  According to their blog, apparently they are also delving into the world of “fine jewelry, diamonds, and custom engagement rings”.

Can you believe that little crown ring? Isn’t it just the sweetest thing ever? Pieces start at $50 and can be purchased through their Etsy shop or directly through their website. Have a peek. Any one of her pieces would be perfect for the modern bride!  What is your favorite piece?

Tickets on Sale

In case you are new to Indie Wed, tickets are on sale for our next event, less than a month away.  As always ticket prices include admission to the best independent wedding show in the area (or country if you ask me!).  With admission you get to experience nearly 100 amazing vendors on two floors of the wonderful wedding venue (and art gallery) Zhou B Art Center.  Nibble on all sorts of goodies from the caterers and pastry chefs, sample beer and cocktails from others.  Try on wedding gowns… or bow ties.  Pick out jewelry and invitations.  Test out your dance moves to the DJ’s and live bands.  And overall, have a great time while planning your wedding.

Windy City Pin Up

We at Windy City Pin Up are so very excited to attend our first Indie Wed in just a few short weeks. We are a vintage pin up duo composed of: Ashlee (Owner.Photographer.Stylist) & Laura (Partner.Hair.Make-up.Finishes)  We are a bit more than enthralled with all things vintage and when we started our business had a relatively simple mission:

A dedication to transforming everyday women into timeless beauties. We are inspired by all that is classic, romantic, sexy, playful and coy. Encouraged by curves and the inherent allure that every woman possesses. Committed to create for you, an experience and memories that will last a lifetime.

And while each and every one of our clients are amazing and unique, one client base we never expected to be so vast and enjoyable are all the brides-to-be that come our way. Whether it’s a boudoir session to surprise their groom with on their big day, the classic pin-up calendar they’ve always wanted to share or a pin-up themed bachelorette party with their favorite girls, we adore our brides and can’t wait to meet so many of you soon. Be sure to stop by our booth or sign up for our burlesque/strip tease class.

We are currently offering 25% off all gift cards through the holidays, as well as discounts on our 2011 calendars and bookings are open for our heavily discounted Valentines Day theme shoot! Contact us or visit our website for details.

Painting, printmaking & art history backgrounds have allowed us to develop a lovely rapport with blushing blossoms and design.  Our inspiration is pulled from watercolors, Dutch Impressionism, texture and, of course, nature.  It’s thrilling to working with seasonal blooms in both tailored and whimsical compositions, creating an ambience for your day that you’ll always remember.
