What is Indie Wed?
Indie Wed is an event…
It is THE alternative to the traditional bridal expo. For those in the midst of wedding planning, Indie Wed offers a one-stop shop for all the best wedding artisans and professionals from the Midwest and beyond. Indie Wed is not just a show but also a market where many of the artists sell their wares on the spot. Starting in Chicago, this semi-annual event will soon be spreading to other U.S. cities.
Indie Wed is a resource…
Our newly designed website will offer both advertising opportunities and membership based directories that highlight the very best in modern day wedding planning. Indie Wed members are innovators, style experts, craftsmen, creative partners, and so much more.
Indie Wed is an inspiration…
In addition to our National member directory, the site will feature a community blog. Members will be able to contribute as they wish to the Indie Wed blog. It can be a place to highlight recent work, feature giveaways and promotions or share your inspiration with readers. Unlike most blogs where it is the voice and opinion of one or two authors, this blog will be an outlet for many, giving the readers consistently fresh content.
We have re-designed and re-examined our current site. We have hired a rocking web developer who has coded such popular wedding sites as Brooklyn Bride and Once Wed. We have added new features and new content. Now all we are missing is you! Advertising options include sidebar banners on the blog and directory pages or directory membership. All sponsors will be selected based on their suitability to the Indie Wed market. To request a copy of our fact sheets, please email us.
The focus of Indie Wed is promoting and supporting small, independent (indie) businesses like yours, but we are also focused on couples with an independent spirit. For some that may mean a full-blown unconventional fete while others may just want to simply incorporate handmade items from local artisans. For the last two years we have worked with these brides. They come to our events and email us with questions, looking for that perfect vendor. We want to share you with these couples!

Why Advertising ?
Monetizing blogs has always been a big sticking point for me. As someone who also runs a small design business, I understand wanting to get your name out there but also how frustrating it can be to have to always ‘pay’ for any exposure. I mean, shouldn’t blogs just write about people and products they like? Personally, I don’t believe in sponsored posts and I wont ever charge a business to write about them. If I find something I like or someone I want to share, then I will. It just feels more genuine to me. But I also don’t expect this blog to be a real source of income for me. So I do understand full-time bloggers wanting to make a living and unfortunately sponsored posts are a way to do that. I don’t hold that against them. It just isn’t for me. As for ads on websites, they don’t really bother me as long as they aren’t too distracting from the content. I also think it can be a good way for a small business to get a little more attention. With that said, I do believe in keeping advertising rates very low. Paying $400 a month for a tiny ad can be overwhelming for a very small businesses with no guarantee that you will get a bump in customers. However, paying $20 or $50 might be worth the risk. I want to provide that opportunity without breaking their bank. Thank you.
